Day 36: The sink is in. No leaks. Terrific. I'll try and put in a loo paper holder tomorrow, that'll really class the place up.

Precious.

That hole in the wall looks like crap...better take care of that.

Ahh...that's better. That is the original medicine cabinet. I found it out in the garage and cleaned it up and put a coat of paint on it. It's the first thing in the entire house to be salvaged. Pretty sweet.

Day 35: Glenn gets down to buiness in the yard. He attacked two large clumps of unkown green stuff. The guy is an absolute wizard with the sheers.

Finally I can see the clothes line pole.

The side of the house is a lot less scary now that Glenn took down the lean-to. I'm pretty sure the neighbors will be pleased it's gone too.

And finally, after a month, the dumpster is gone. I had a feeling that a 30 yard dumpster was going to be too big - I was absolutely wrong. That thing was completely stuffed.

Day 34: The floors got stained.

And we put down a layer of sweet, sweet smellin' poly.

Glenn...gettin' ready to own that antenna. This kid is a roof crawlin' fool.

Shazam!!! It's gone. This guy does GREAT work, I highly recommend him.

Day 33: Glenn to the rescue. G4realz found his way down to Boise to lend a helping hand for a couple of days. Little did he realize what a crappy job he had in store for him. Here he is gleefully sweeping the floor...

As you can see, he's pretty good on the business end of a broom.

He's also pretty good with a mattock... although I don't think it'll help the floors.

Here's the floors...after about 12 hours of sanding. I don't know if you've ever spent the better part of a day riding a floor sander, but it's absolutely misearable.

Day 29: In celebration of the first decent rain I've seen since moving to Boise I rented a floor sander and took care of some business. Here's the second bedroom before I let loose the Dominator on it.

And here it is after about five minutes of punishment. I alleviated a lot of anxiety by seeing how straight forward this sanding business is going to be.

I also dominated the crappy kitchen floor with the sander...it didn't get rid of all of the junk on the floor, but it did smooth it all out (only after the vacuum on the sander went out and threw nasty dust everywhere for 20 minutes...Cletus at the rental place thought I needed to empty the bag...turns out the frickin' belt was broken - way to go Cletus).

So then I decided to finish it properly and not skip bits so I went to Lowe's and got some flooring (total cost: $86 and that included two tubes of construction adhesive - just in case) and spent most of the evening puttin' it down. The kitchen is now officially the cleanest room in the house, which isn't really saying much.

Day 27 1/2: Things are getting done. All the hardwood floors have now been patched. Just waiting on a sander and I'll have these babies lookin' like $47.50.

Here's a shot with the floor done in the living room. I also threw a coat of primer on the wall...no more drywall dust.

I also put some primer on the green wall - I miss the mint chocolate chip ice cream wall, but I'll get over it.

Here's the hardwood patch job in the master bedroom. It was a bit pear and required about a gallon of patching paste. It'll sand up like a dream.

Day 27: Layin' the dance floor. Yep, that's the new flooring going down. It was a bit of a bugger to get started (like everything else) but it went down fairly easily once I got going.

And here's the second bedroom completed. I'm ready to put on my dancin' shoes.

Here's the living room...with the 18th coat of mud on the walls. It's just about ready for paint.

And here's the loo. As you can see the sink doesn't have a drain yet...damn thing keeps springing a leak everytime I set it up. I'm going to have to give my friend Trevor a ring.

Day 25: OK people. No pics today. It's been a lot of ticky tack BS for the past couple of days. For instance, a wall that's been mudded once doesn't look much different than a wall that's been mudded three times. It's all the same crap. Speaking of which, the crapper is fully functional - there have been confirmations.

The sink has been a real bottomer. I think the drain is clogged a bit at the wall which puts extra pressure on the normal p-trap system. I took a walk down the street and left a note for Trevor - hopefully he'll be able to sort it out proper.

The living room is getting rather close to being close to being almost sort of done. That's as commital as I'm going to get. The kitchen floor still needs a good strong back to pull out the remaining lino - that's shit work.

So the big goal of the weekend (like last weekend) is to get the johnny in ship-shape. There is a fair bit of stuff to do in there still, I've made a list and it's long. I can't jack with the window becuase i'm replacin' that suckha. I suppose I could dial in the baseboard and perhaps the lighting and paint the walls. Crap there's a ton to do. I'm looking forward to having Glenn here to help. He'd better bring his workin' clothes.

Day 22: The mud is flying. The tile in the bathroom is up and just waits grout. I estimated that grout would take about an hour, which means it will take about four. Anyway, the plumbing for the bath is all in, just a few final adjustments once the groutin' is done.

The master sweet. It looks VERY inviting. The smell of fresh paint is my new favorite.

The kitchen entry got its first coat of mud. Hopefully that'll get trimmed out next weekend. That would be niiiiiiice.

Blog Central: The internet is connected and mission control has moved from der Basement to the Master Sweet. That chair is comfy.

Day 19: The invasion of the gits. I was woken up this Satuday morning by a lot of banging on my front door...I was fightin' mad when I threw open the door to find the three gits. Ma, Pa and Rick had driven down to pitch in and help me with the Lord's work. There's Rick in the corner lining up some drywall.

And here's dad, pullin' off some off the old baseboard.

They made lighting progress and were able to get a coat of primer on one of the rooms by the end of the night (after a minor altercation with the neighbor).

Here's the bathroom with a bit of the subway tile on the wall...I'll put baseboard along the bottom and a sink and toiler on the left wall. It'll be nice to not have to run up to Albertson's to take care of bizness.

Day 14: I think I've turned the corner in the bathroom. I was able to get teh tub in and the floors in today. There's still some jacking around to do with the plumbing, but I think the hardest part is done. I'll put up some concrete backer board over the two far exposed walls and on the tub side of the new wall on the right. Once that's in I'll be able to start tiling the tub and walls...which is going to take forever. Anyway, here's a shot right after we put the tub in.

And here's a shot with the tub and the floor in...

And here's a closeup of the tub/tile work...not being able to see the carnage all around greatly improves the look.

And here's a shot of the additional framing put in around the kitchen entry. I'll put some rock on it this week and that will make quite a difference.
